How do I display products using Metadata?

Products can be displayed on a "Product tray" to display all the products present in a particular page or to load the related products of a particular product. Single product details can also be shown with a click.

Show products of a page in a product tray

  1. Create a new hyperlink anywhere on the page.
  2. Paste the metadata in the hyperlink URL.
    Metadata format: rpc://assets/products/[COMMA_SEPARATED_PRODUCT_IDS]
    Example: rpc://assets/products/836.882.10,701.040.99
    "COMMA_SEPARATED_PRODUCT_IDS" - Add multiple product ID’s separated by a comma.

Show related products of a product in a product tray

  1. Set the size and position for the clickable area on the page and create a new hyperlink.
  2. Paste the metadata in the hyperlink URL.
    Metadata format: rpc://tags/products/[COMMA_SEPARATED_PRODUCT_IDS]?icon=default
    Example: rpc://tags/products/836.882.10,701.040.99?icon=default

Show product information

  1. Set the size and position for the clickable area on the page and create a new hyperlink.
  2. Paste the metadata in the hyperlink URL.
    Metadata format: rpc://tags/products/[PRODUCT_ID]?icon=default
    Example: rpc://tags/products/836.882.10?icon=default

Note: Remove the square brackets [ ] in all the metadata format.

Product article number in PDF publications

The product article number present in the PDF publication page gets extracted during processing and added to the product tray.

The different product article number formats are:

  • sxxx.xxx.xx
  • Sxxx.xxx.xx
  • xxx.xxx.xx
  • (sxxx.xxx.xx)
  • (Sxxx.xxx.xx)
  • (xxx.xxx.xx""
  • {xxx.xxx.xx}
  • /xxx.xxx.xx/
  • ?xxx.xxx.xx
    where 'x' is a numerical value between 0-9.

The product article number label may contain special characters like slash /, double quotes "", parentheses (), braces {}, question mark ? and extra spaces that would be excluded during an extraction process.

Note: Any duplicate entries of the product article numbers are managed in the Publisher.
